Vigo vessel sinks come in a range of styles including glass, bronze and ceramic models. However, each installs in basically the same way. The sink mounts on top of the countertop instead of inside it, for a different look.

Mounting the sink requires just a few basic tools and supplies you are probably familiar with already, and you only need some very basic knowledge about sinks. Leave yourself at least two hours to complete this task.

Step 1 – Determine the location

Determine the location of the vessel sink by placing it on the countertop with your faucet to make sure both will fit. Once you decide on the location, make a mark on the counter top through the vessel sink drain hole, with a pencil.

Step 2 – Cut a hole

Cut a 1 1/4-inch hole at your mark using a hole saw and power drill. Remove the core by tapping it out of the counter top with a small hammer, if necessary.

Step 3 – Apply silicone

Apply a ring of silicone caulking around the hole in the counter top. Line up the drain hole in the sink with the hole in the counter top and place the sink on top of the silicone. Or, if your Vigo sink is made of glass, first install a mounting ring around the counter top hole, apply silicone on the ring and mount the sink to the ring. Glass vessel sinks require this ring for additional mounting support. If your sink requires a mounting ring, the mounting ring is supplied by Vigo.

Step 4 – Connect the drain

Connect the drain. Slide the drain washer over the top portion of the sink drain and push the drain into the sink drain hole from the top.

Step 5 – Place the washer

Slide the washer over the drainpipe from underneath the sink and screw the drain lock nut over the washer. Tighten the lock nut with a wrench to secure the sink to the countertop.

Step 6 – Place the tail pipe

Slide the tail pipe nut onto the tail pipe. Insert the tail pipe into the p-trap and turn the lock nut to secure the p-trap to the tail pipe. Turn the tail pipe nut to secure the tail pipe to the bottom of the sink drain. Tighten the p-trap lock nuts if any leaks occur.
